Installation
A complete, step-by-step guide to get Seiz running on your Mac.
Step 1: Download Seiz#
Visit the official Seiz website and click the "Download" button. The download is a .dmg file — this is the standard format for Mac applications. It's a small file (under 50 MB), so it should download in just a few seconds.
What is a .dmg file?
.dmg file is a "disk image" — think of it as a virtual package that contains the app. When you open it, you'll see the app icon and can drag it to install. This is how most Mac apps are distributed outside the App Store.Step 2: Install the App#
- Open the .dmg file — Double-click the downloaded file. A new window will appear showing the Seiz app icon and your Applications folder.
- Drag Seiz to Applications — Click and drag the Seiz icon onto the Applications folder icon. This copies the app to your Mac.
- Eject the disk image — After copying, right-click the Seiz disk image on your desktop (or in the Finder sidebar) and click "Eject". You can also delete the original
.dmgfile from your Downloads folder — you don't need it anymore.
Step 3: Open Seiz for the First Time#
Open Seiz from your Applications folder, or use Spotlight (press ⌘ Space, type "Seiz", and press Enter).
"Seiz can't be opened" message?
Step 4: Grant Full Disk Access#
When you first open Seiz, it will ask for Full Disk Access. This is a macOS security permission that allows Seiz to browse and manage all your files — just like Finder does.
Without this permission, Seiz can only see a limited set of folders. To get the full experience, you need to grant it:
- Seiz will show a prompt with a button that takes you directly to the right settings page. Click it.
- In System Settings → Privacy & Security → Full Disk Access, find Seiz in the list.
- Toggle the switch next to Seiz to ON.
- macOS may ask for your password or Touch ID to confirm. Enter it.
- Go back to Seiz. It may ask you to restart the app — click "Restart" and you're done.
Is this safe?
Step 5: Set Seiz as Your Default File Manager (Optional)#
By default, when you double-click a folder on your desktop or in the Dock, macOS opens it in Finder. You can change this so folders open in Seiz instead:
- Open Seiz and go to Settings (press ⌘, or click Seiz → Settings in the menu bar).
- In the General tab, click "Set as Default File Manager".
- Confirm the change when macOS asks. From now on, folders will open in Seiz.
You can always switch back to Finder later from the same settings page.
Keeping Seiz Up to Date#
Seiz includes a built-in updater. When a new version is available, you'll see a small notification badge in the app. Click it to download and install the update — the whole process takes just a few seconds.
All updates are completely free. Your one-time $29 purchase includes every future update, no matter how many new features are added.
Uninstalling Seiz#
If you ever want to remove Seiz, simply drag it from your Applications folder to the Trash. That's it. Seiz stores its settings in a standard location that macOS cleans up automatically. No leftover files, no hidden processes, no cleanup needed.
